News and Coming Events (D.V.)

Sale of Work

The Sale of Work raised just short of £700.   Thank you to everyone who was involved.

Child Protection Training

Susan Maclean will be running a Child Protection training event in Kyle tomorrow evening, at the Free Church hall, at 7:00pm.   (Sorry for the short notice in this, but the mail she sent arrived while we were on holiday, and I totally forgot about it afterwards!)

Sleat Evening Service

At a meeting before the summer holidays the Kirk Session discussed restarting an evening service in Sleat.   We have decided to do so for a trial period, once a month for four months (through to Christmas).   We already expect people from the Strath end of the congregation to travel to Sleat every Sunday morning.   It is not right that we should expect any lesser commitment from people in the Sleat end to travel to Strath every Sunday too – this threatens the unity of the congregation.    The only justification for splitting the fellowship is if there is a spiritual benefit that outweighs the threat – there must be an evangelistic goal in doing this.   If the numbers attending the evening service in Sleat do not grow over this time (i.e. if no new people attend), it will be very hard to justify going on with splitting the fellowship of the congregation like this.

We are holding this service the evening of the Kyleakin service because we feel the Broadford Outreach is one of the best opportunities we have of growing, and do not wish to put anything in the way of Sleat people supporting that.   We would again urge the congregation in Sleat to show firm commitment to the Broadford Outreach, and to reaching the whole community in Sleat & Strath.

South Skye & Lochalsh Prayer Meeting

There will be a special prayer meeting for the Gospel in our community on Tuesday 13th September in Dornie or Inverinate (Venue TBC) at 7:30pm.

Discipleship in our Churches

There will be a special event held on Saturday 17th September, at 10:00am, in the Lighthouse Centre at Kyle, focused on discipleship, and encouraging ways we can work as churches to make better disciples.   A flyer is available.
