News and Coming Events (D.V.)

Standing to Sing

At their meeting last Wednesday, the Kirk Session agreed that from now on we will stand for all singings, as this is a better posture to help us make a joyful noise to the Lord.   We will remain standing for the first prayer (which is normally quite short) and for the Benediction.

Teens Group

Teens Group meets tonight at the manse, 7:00pm – 8:30pm.   Teens is open to all kids in P7 and high school.

Finance Committee

There will be a meeting of the Finance Committee tomorrow at 7:00pm, at the Sleat church.

Office Bearers Joint Prayer Meeting

There will be a prayer meeting for the state of the Church in our Presbytery area and nationally on Tuesday 23rd August, at 2:00pm, at Kyle Church of Scotland Hall.   All office bearers in the Free Church and Church of Scotland are urged to attend if possible.

Communion

Due to an oversight on Gordon’s part, we were due to have had a communion this weekend – but obviously are not.   The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be shared next Lord’s Day morning.   Anyone wishing to profess their faith and join the congregation are invited to contact Gordon to arrange to meet with the Kirk Session prior to the service.

Joint Service with the Church of Scotland

Next Lord’s Day evening it is our turn to host the monthly joint service.   This will be followed by a time for fellowship over tea and coffee after the service.

Sale of Work

The annual sale of work for the Fabric Fund will be held in Broadford village hall on 3rd September.   Carol Macpherson will be organising of the baking stall, please contact her on 822419 if you have any questions, or need items picked up.   The hall will be open from 11:00am for people to drop off donations.   There will be a soup and sandwich lunch on offer – volunteers to staff the kitchen should discuss this among themselves after the service today.
