Sleat and Strath Free Church was formed in 2000 through the merger of two congregations serving the communities in the south of Skye – Sleat, which is more scattered, and Strath, where the population is largely in a concentrated township around Broadford.   Our vision is to be a church that serves God through:

  • Worship, focused on Jesus Christ
  • Instruction, based on God’s Word
  • Fellowship, around the Good News
  • Evangelism, showing love in word and action

Our vision is also rooted in being a church that serves God in the communities where he has placed us.   We have come to realise that although the Church could be gathered in one place, we live in two quite distinct communities.   Meeting in one place we could not effectively reach the whole of south Skye.   Our long term vision is to have two healthy, mission orientated congregations serving in the communities of Sleat and Strath.   We are committed to this through:

  • Redeveloping the Sleat congregation
  • Replanting the Broadford congregation

In time, we hope to have a church building of our own in Broadford, but that intention is not yet integral to our work there.   We feel it is possible, using the facilities available to us at the village hall, to press on with the work of gathering a congregation.
